Chris Morgan's Wildnotes

A few shots from my Anchorage-Homer-Anchorage shoot over the last 36 hours!

On the road to Homer – near portage – the landscape is immediately epic and gorgeous right outside Anchorage.

I couldn’t pass this by! Screeched to a halt to take a snap of the freshly-caught halibut just south of Ninilchik, and met some great people at the same time.

Feet up at last – the view waiting for me in Homer when I arrived. This taken at about 11.45pm the day before summer solstice.

Uh-oh. Not a good scene. The rear wheel bearings completely blew on my bike 2 hours before the helicopter was due to arrive to film me on the bike! Nightmare!

BUT incredible help was on hand – thank you so much (from left) Mike, Dan, Randy, and Martin from Lower Peninsula Power Sports. They saved the day – literally. At one point three of them were helping me fix the bike so that I could rush into the hills to meet the helicopter in time. They found the last two bearings in town and had them back on the bike in an hour and a half. Quite the stressful pit-stop, but thank you for pulling it off guys! I’ve never met a more efficient, helpful team of mechanics in my life. Plus, they didn’t even charge me for their time. Here’s their website: http://www.lppowersports.com/

Straight back into filming urban bears with Joe and Nim. Here, outside a house that had a large black bear feeding on trash. Joe got some great footage, as you can tell from the smile on his face.
